As anyone who knows me will tell you, W.A.S.P is my favorite band. And DLA, imho, is their finest work. This is a double disc recorded on the KFD world tour. The album is mixed to sound like one complete concert from beginning to end. There is not one weak track here. The sound is crisp & clear.. I saw W.A.S.P 6 years later on the "Neon God" tour here in Edmonton, Alberta on August 27, 2004. A crowd of about 600 showed up at Red's. See my blog post elsewhere for a review of that gig. Anyhow, back to DLA: Stet Howland's drumming is superb. This is the first tour they did with "Elvis", Blackie's customized mic stand. From what I've read it cost $10G & has 1000lbs of counterweight.. If you are new to W.A.S.P or a long time fan, this is an essential album. The cover, too, is striking. I'd like to see Blackie sell that image as a poster. I know I'd buy it. Not only that, but this album ranks up there with Iron Maiden's "Live After Death" & Judas Priest's "Unleashed in the East" as a classic in the genre. Do you have memories of W.A.S.P you'd like to share? Feel free to leave a comment.
