This marks the 1st time I've experienced 'Airbourne' live (although I've seen numerous clips of them on youtube). They kicked ass! They started @ 10:20, finished their encore by 11:32. So that's my only complaint, that their set was too short. Anyhow, they played a variety of songs from throughout their catalog, including a couple of new tunes. At one point, Joel O'Keefe (singer/guitar) got on a roadie's shoulders & waded through the crowd, soloing while the rest of the band provided the backbeat. Big shout out to Trevor & Suffeen (hope I spelled your name right). I caught one opener, 'The Wild'. They were alright, but I much preferred Airbourne. I believe they - 'The Wild' - have a local connection; not sure if it's just the guitar player or the whole band. Can someone clarify?

It was a Friday night. They actually played a 2nd show the next night, too. L.A Guns opened. This gig, as you might have guessed, was sold out. Angus & Company really kicked ass that night. Opened with 'Thunderstruck', closed with 'For Those About To Rock'. If you've ever seen AC/DC before, you know that there's something of a formula to their live shows. Not that that's a bad thing, they make it work for them. They played for around 2 hours. My ears were ringing for days.I was 4th row on the floor. Paid a scalper $65 for my ticket. (Face value was $26.50). In those days, that was big money! I earned the dough through a paper route I had. |
