So, rumours had been swirling for years that this book was gonna be turned into a movie. I have mixed feelings about this movie. It is at once entertaining & grossly oversimplified. There's a lot of stuff from the book that was left out. The book gets John Corabi's side of his era in Motley Crue, while the movie glosses over it. The book also goes deeper into the various characters, like Nikki Sixx looking for a surrogate family. This is touched on in the movie, but that's it. Furthermore, no mention is made of Sharon Osbourne or Gene Simmons; Sharon reined the boys in on the "Shout At the Devil" tour when they opened for Ozzy, Gene admonished them about drugs when they opened for Kiss. I liked the way they covered the tours for the 80s albums; they got the costumes & set designs down well. They also nailed Tommy Lee's recollection of a typical night on the road. Sticking with Tommy Lee, no mention was made of his relationship with Pamela Anderson. The movie did cover some significant moments, like Vince drunk driving conviction & the night that Nikki Sixx flatlined. But the book goes into much greater depth about how those events impacted & changed them.Like I said, entertaining, but there's a lot more substance in the book.
