Maiden's tour production was really stripped down - on 7th Son (1988) they invested in a $2m production & nearly lost their shirts. In Edmonton - on 7th son- they played to about 3000 - & that was @ the coliseum ! Capacity roughly 14000.
They - Maiden - didn't really recover until Brave New World (2000). Calgary & Edmonton were listed but soon removed from the tour itinerary. I suspect the promoter & the band couldn't come to terms on price. (Strongly suspect).
Iron Maiden didn't end up returning to Alberta 'till 2008; they sold out all their shows in Western Canada on that leg! It stands -imho - as a Testament to Maiden's tenacity/integrity/character that they have endured so long.
