As it stands, a male relative must drive a Saudi woman around. This includes to & from necessary appointments (medical or otherwise).
Facebook has allowed many women in the same boat (so to speak). to connect & band together for common cause.
One lady - who posted a video of herself driving on youtube -was temporarily imprisoned by the religious police. This was in 2012, people!
Fast -Forward to 2015: A Saudi - Arabian historian, Salen-al-Sadoon, claimed - in a TV interview - that "they (American & presumably North American) do not care if they are raped on the roadside, but we do". Other guests on the program appeared shocked. Mr al -Sadoon said that they were out of touch.
It appears that women in Saudi Arabia have a long way to go before having rights like they have in North America. Can you imagine Lita Ford having to be driven all over the place by a male relative?
