In 'Aliens', Lt. Ellen Ripley, played by Sigourney Weaver, is assigned to lead a group of marines into an ALIEN infested wasteland. In Aliens, a large corporation bankrolls the operation.
In both movies, the employers' agent turns against the team for their own interests. In Aliens, Carter Burke, played by Paul Reiser deliberately betrays Ripley and tries to make her a host for an Alien face-hugger. In 'Army of the Dead',Martin, played by Garrett Dillahunt, betrays a member of the team that senses his duplicitous nature.
Of course, the helicopter scene in both movies. In Aliens, Ripley thinks that she & Newt have been betrayed by Bishop (Lance Henrikson), only for him to save them. In 'Army of the Dead', Bautista & co also think that the helicopter pilot has left them stranded, only to save them.
In both movies the majority of the crew dies.
These parallels are too glaring to be coincidental. Comments?
I have just become aware that someone has looked at these parallels (and more) and done a far more in-depth analysis. screenrant.com/army-dead-movie-aliens-homages/
