This is the debut album from Edmonton, Alberta's Boneyard. They are all veteran musicians, having been a part of the music scene for years. From the opener, "Fates Warning", to the closer, "Catch Me If YouCan", there is not one weak song on here. Pamtera's vocals are smooth & clear. I particularly enjoyed "Evil Ways" & "Hope". This is vintage hard rock with classic rock/metal influences on display. "Monster" & "Tune Attack" are more playful & fun. The guitars are punchy & the drums are solid. It's not gonna change the world but it could brighten your day. Well worth checking out. Below is the lyric video for the first single, "Fates Warning". Joey Spimone was a lazy kid, a lazy kid you see He spent his summers daydreaming, daydreaming under a tree Wondering about far off worlds, growing up, & having a family He could learn anything -- from mathematics to philosophy He would soon see the falseness of the world; its corruption & vanity It was then that he decided; a different sort of life he'd lead He would not be like the others, seduced by idolatry He realized the futility of trying to change others: who was he to say how they should live, what they should want? He craved substance; glitter was like junk food for his soul -- it felt good but provided little real nourishment. If this resonates with you (at all) I highly recommend the book "12 Rules For Life: An Antidote to Chaos" by Jordan Peterson. It speaks to a malaise prevalent throughout our society. We have amazing technology that can do wonderful things. But it does not fill the void within us. Stay strong. Stay compassionate. Amen. We played a gig in Regina, Saskatchewan on Sept 10/2004 at a club called "The State". As always, the band - an Iron Maiden/Judas Priest tribute - played the Priest set first, as it was easier to play & easier for Mike to sing. During the 2nd set, Iron Maiden, I was scheduled to make an appearance as Eddie, Iron Maiden's mascot. Aside from that, I was operating the lights. During the song "Powerslave", I realized that I was wearing the wrong t-shirt. I was wearing a Megadeth t-shirt & had left my Tyrant shirt back at the hotel. I quickly thought of a solution: I would approach a fan wearing an Iron Maiden shirt, persuade them to change shirts with me. Problem solved, right? Well, not exactly. During the slow section of "Powerslave", the lights could be left in place - with the stage darkened but not completely - for a short while. I scanned the audience, found a suitable target. I left the lighting board, approached this fan & began explaining the situation. Unfortunately, midway through my explanation, which took a little longer to explain & the fan to comprehend than I had anticipated, the song started up again. Mike (Shaw, the singer), jumped off stage, ran over to me & yelled: "RAHUL!! THE LiGHTS, MAN!!" I immediately ran back to the lighting board & resumed my duties. The fan approached me as it was obvious that I was not bullshitting. We traded shirts & all turned out well. I had some explaining to do after the gig was over. Sylvain, the bassist, said: "you're usually pretty reliable so don't sweat it" (or words to that effect). The video below is NOT taken from that gig but features the same line-up. So, we all know Michael Jordan as a superstar basketball player. The following story illustrates just how good the man was: The Chicago Bulls are facing the LA Lakers in the 1992 NBA final. MJ, after scoring on the Lakers, takes the ball, barrels down the court and - to the astonishment of everyone - slam dunks on his own net. The arena is silent. MJ walks over to the announcer's booth and grabs a mic. "Don't worry", he says. "WE'LL STILL WIN!!" The arena erupts in cheers. And the Bulls go on to win the series. As chanted by the Cult of the Golden Tutti...
